The story follows two loners, the businesslike Hachiman Hikigaya and beautiful Yukino Yukinoshita, who despite their varying personalities and ideals, offers assist and advice to others as office of their school's Service Club, assisted past the cheerful and friendly Yui Yuigahama. It largely depicts various social situations faced by teens in a high school setting and the psychology driving their interactions.

He somewhen became one of the few people in class 2F who would talk to Hachiman on a first proper name basis, and ofttimes hangs out with him. - A close friend of Yumiko and Yui'south, and a member of Hayato'due south clique. A massive Yaoi fangirl who loves to see two boys hitting on each other. - Minami is the leader of the 2nd most influential clique in class 2F and holds a grudge towards Yui, who she was friendly with during their outset high school year, for being in the superior clique. A drama CD, titled Tatoeba Konna Birthday Song ( たとえばこんなバースデーソング , subtitled with "Birthday Song for you"), was released with a special edition of the tertiary light novel on November 18, 2011.[8] The drama CD contains a graphic symbol song, sung by Saori Hayami and Nao Tōyama, titled "Bright Generation" and equanimous by Yukari Hashimoto.[50] A second drama CD, titled Hikigaya Komachi no Keiryaku ( 比企谷小町の計略 , subtitled with "His sister'south tactics"), was sold together with the beginning one at Marvelous AQL'due south booth at Comiket 83, held on December 29, 30, and 31, 2012.[51] [52] A tertiary drama CD, titled Kanojotachi no, We Volition Rock Y'all ( 彼女たちの、うぃー・うぃる・ろっく・ゆー♡ , subtitled with "We will... We will rock "you"!!"), was bundled with the special edition of the 7th book, published on March 19, 2013.[nine] The drama CD contains a graphic symbol song by Hayami and Tōyama, titled "Stone You!!" and composed and arranged by Yūya Saitō. A 4th drama CD, titled Sono Christmas Candle no Akari ga Yureru Toki... ( そのクリスマスキャンドルの灯が揺れる時……。 ), was released with the special edition of book vi.5 on July 22, 2014.[18] The fourth drama CD contains a character song by Hayami and Tōyama, titled "Kimi to Merry Christmas" ( 君とMerry Christmas ).[53]

The offset manga adaptation is illustrated by Rechi Kazuki and published past Square Enix nether the title My Youth Romantic One-act Is Wrong, As I Expected -Monologue- ( Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru. -Monologue- , やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。-妄言録- ). Its serialization began in the magazine Big Gangan on September 25, 2012.[54] As of January 2021, in that location accept been eighteen tankōbon published.
A 2nd series, illustrated by Naomichi Io and titled My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Incorrect, As I Expected @comic ( Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru. @comic , やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。@comic ) began serialization in Shogakukan'due south Monthly Sunday Gene-X mag. The first affiliate was published in the magazine's January 2013 edition, released on December 19, 2012.[55] [56] It has been collected into seventeen tankōbon volumes so far, with the showtime published on May 17, 2013.[57] Yen Press licensed the serial for English release.
A 4-console manga series by Yūta Taneda was published by Ichijinsha under the championship Yahari 4-koma demo Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa machigatteiru. ( やはり4コマでも俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。 ). A preview affiliate was published in the May 2013 issue of the Manga 4-koma Palette mag, released on March 22, 2013,[58] and the get-go chapter – in the June 2013 consequence, on Apr 22, 2013.[59] [lx] A tankōbon volume of it was released on June 21, 2014.[61] It ended on Jun 22, 2022 and was nerveless in two volumes. An anthology volume by several authors was published by Ichijinsha under their Deoxyribonucleic acid Media Comics imprint on May 25, 2013,[62] and a second one, on July 25, 2013.[63]

A thirteen-episode anime television receiver series, directed by Ai Yoshimura and produced by Brain'due south Base, aired between Apr 5 and June 21, 2013,[119] with an additional anime-original episode with writing past Wataru Watari following the series on June 27, 2013.[120] The series was simulcast with English language subtitles past Crunchyroll.[121] An OVA episode on Blu-ray Disc was bundled with the limited edition of the video game, released on September 19, 2013.[120] [122] The opening theme is "Yukitoki" ( ユキトキ ) by Nagi Yanagi and the catastrophe theme is "Howdy Alone" by Saori Hayami and Nao Tōyama.[123] The anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in Northward America and Madman Amusement in Australia and New Zealand.[2] [124] [125]
A 2nd season was announced by Shogakukan in 2014.[126] The season, titled "Yahari Ore no Seishun Dearest Come wa Machigatteiru. Zoku", is produced by Feel and directed by Kei Oikawa, with character designs by Yuichi Tanaka and series composition past Shōtarō Suga.[127] Information technology aired between Apr three and June 26, 2015. The opening theme is "Harumodoki" ( 春擬き ) by Yanagi.[128] The catastrophe theme is "Everyday World." ( エブリデイワールド ) by Yukino Yukinoshita (Hayami) and Yui Yuigahama (Tōyama).[129] The 2d season has been licensed past Sentai Filmworks.[130] An OVA episode, titled Undoubtedly, Girls Are Made of Saccharide, Spice, and Something Squeamish ( きっと、女の子はお砂糖とスパイスと素敵な何かでできている , Kitto, Onna no Ko wa Osatō to Spice to Suteki na Nanika de Dekiteiru ), is bundled with the limited edition of the 2nd video game, which was released on October 27, 2016.[131] [132]
A third and final season was announced by Shogakukan on March 18, 2019.[133] Feel returned to animate the tertiary season,[134] with Kei Oikawa returning as director, Keiichirō Ōchi replacing Shōtarō Suga as serial composer, and Yuichi Tanaka returning as character designer. The season, titled "Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. Kan", was gear up to premiere on April 9, 2020,[135] [136] before the serial was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[137] The third season aired from July 9 to September 24, 2020. The opening theme is "Megumi no Ame" (芽ぐみの雨) by Yanagi, and the ending theme is "Diamond no Jundo" (ダイヤモンドの純度) past Yukino Yukinoshita (Hayami) and Yui Yuigahama (Tōyama).[138] Sentai Filmworks licensed the tertiary season globally excluding Asia.[139] In Southeast Asia, the series is licensed by Medialink and released on streaming service iQIYI.[140] The 3rd season ran for 12 episodes.[141] A new OVA episode will be bundled with the latest game of the franchise.[142]
On Apr 2, 2019, Sentai Filmworks confirmed on Twitter that the series will receive a dub.[143] On July v, Sentai announced that both the first and second seasons will be dubbed.[144]
Video games [edit]
A video game for PlayStation Vita, titled Yahari Game demo Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru. ( やはりゲームでも俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。 , lit. "My Youth Romantic Comedy even in Game is Wrong Every bit I Expected." ) was published by 5pb. and released on September 19, 2013. Takuya Eguchi, Saori Hayami, and Nao Tōyama reprised their roles from the anime.[122] The limited edition was bundled with an OVA episode.[120] 5pb. developed a 2nd video game for the series for the PlayStation Vita that adapted the second flavor of the anime boob tube series.[145] [146] It was released on Oct 27, 2016. Similar the get-go game, the express edition was bundled with an OVA episode.[131] The release date of the 2nd game was postponed from July 28, 2022 to Oct 27, 2022 on June xiv, 2016.[132] Both games were after released in a bundle for the PlayStation 4 on October 26, 2017. A third game, adapting the third season of the anime television series, has been announced past 5pb.; information technology will be bundled with an OVA episode, adapting role of the bonus light novels included with the Blu-ray release of the third season.[142]

My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, Equally I Expected was called as the all-time light novel of Japan according to the online polls compiled by the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! almanac guide book in 2014, 2022 and 2016.[147] Hachiman Hikigaya was elected the all-time male character in 2014, 2022 and 2016, Yukino Yukinoshita was elected the all-time female character in 2022 and Ponkan8, the series' artist, was called as the all-time illustrator in 2022 and 2016.
